Description

Directions: Take Hwy 36 east past I-65, and look for Reeves Road, the first road to the left. Go to the end of the road and you will see the cemetery. The first persons buried here were two slave children c1845, who were traveling west with a wagon train. The children died en route and the wagon master stopped and asked Mr. Oscar Reeves if they could bury the children on their property. His son, Frank Reeves, led the travelers about 100 yards north of their house to a beautiful hillside. There are a total of 77 graves in this cemetery; eleven are marked with tombstones. The other graves are marked with simple white crosses, designed by a descendant, Clyde Reeves. (Source: Decatur Daily, May 1, 1977.)
